Basic Techniques
Activator 310 is needed to activate CoolChem® Integrators. Mixing is unnecessary. Contact is the only requirement. Following are the two most common methods of activation. Option A is typically stronger. Option B is generally cleaner.
Option A: Apply enough Integrator 75 to cover surface and fill gaps. One free falling drop generally covers one square inch of bond area. Carefully spread liquid and gently align surfaces. Caution: too much pressure can create grab which contributes to misalignment. Once aligned, press materials together firmly. This should create a slight bleed out along the bondline. Spray bond line(s) lightly with Activator 310 .
Option B: Holding Activator 310 8 inches from one of the surfaces to be joined, spray the surface with an ultra light mist. If any wetness or moisture is visible you are over-using. Apply enough Integrator 75 to opposing surface to cover surface and fill any gaps. Align pieces and tighly press together, holding for twenty seconds.
Both options provide significant strength in seconds, substantial completion in 20 minutes and complete integration in 24 hours. High humidity and/or temperature can accelerate process while gaps between surfaces & certain materials can slow it. Clean up with Debonder 400.
Polyolfin Plastics
Polyethylene, polypropylene, nylon and Teflon® type plastics: Treat bond area(s) of these materials with Poly Treatment 311. Wait a minimum of 90 seconds or until dry. A three-minute window now exists for using bonding instructions below. All other materials: (dirty surfaces should first get a generous spray of Activator 310 followed by wiping) Hold Activator 310 aerosol 8-12 inches away from one surface and apply an extremely fine mist. Wait 10 seconds.
ALERT: On April 1, 2002 MME Technologies, LLC. introduced a reformulated Poly Treatment 311 utilizing a water versus a solvent base. The performance of this new chemistry is comparable to the old product but the technique in using it is slightly different.
Use the Poly Treatment 311 applicator brush to apply the liquid to any polyolfin plastic where it is to be joined. Wait for product to dry. Since the water-based technology takes longer to dry, the following procedures are recommended to expedite the process:
1) Use a hair dryer or heat gun to dry the material, or
2) Allow Poly Treatment 311 to bead up. Use an absorbant material to wick large beads from the material. Blow on remaining moisture till dry.
Apply Integrator 75 to one surface. Join and press materials together. Spritz bleed out of Integrator 75 at bond line with Activator 310. Due to their molecular density, a five minute waiting period is recommended before substantial stress is appled to these materials.
Cautions
Debonder 400 removes Integrator 75 from skin (peel, do not pull skin apart). Avoid directly breathing vapor. Use in ventilated area, avoid contact with eyes and skin. In case of eye or mouth contact, flush with water. Integrator 75 sprayed with Activator 310 generates heat. Applied to skin it can
cause burns. Use protective clothing for heavy industrial usage (vinyl polyethylene gloves, rubber apron, side shield glasses etc.). 24-hour

Shelf Life
Moisture and high temperatures are the barriers to a shelf life exceeding 24 months. CoolChem Integrator 75 is covered with a nitrogen blanket when bottled to insure delivery of high quality product. Do not open until ready to use, refrigerating unopened bottles for best results. After opening, store in a cool, dry, dark place. Always return cap to bottle ASAP, avoiding prolonged exposure to temperatures above 120 degrees, direct sunlight, and high
humidity levels. Refrigerate if only used occasionally, bringing contents to room temperature before use to avoid condensation. Tightly cap other system components, storing out of direct sunlight at room temperature.
GUIDELINES AND HINTS
Surface area is critical. Joints with minimal surface area lack the mass needed for providing strength. In situations where strength is needed but surface area is lacking, look for ways of overlapping additional material(s) or possibly using absorbent materials saturated with Integrator 75 in a band aid/wrap fashion. Another effective methodology is to run weld type beads of Integrator 75 over a bond line to reinforce a break.
Always steel wool or abrase and then clean metal surfaces immediately before bonding.
Generally speaking, less is more. You will typically get best results not over applying Integrator 75. One free falling drop of Integrator 75 generally covers one square inch of bond area. Use enough to simply wet the surfaces. One exception: Larger volumes of Integrator 75 are needed for surfaces that have uneven or absorbent surfaces. If materials are extremely porous you may have to first spray a light mist of Activator 310 on these surfaces before applying Integrator 75. This will help by retarding absorption.
Activator 310 is not sticky so do not worry about getting it on your hands. When you use it to activate Integrator 75 use it sparingly. A good analogy is the way a woman sprays perfume on her neck. Be careful, Activator 310 has acetone added to it so your system has a built in cleaner/degreaser. It could damage finished, painted, vinyl or plastic materials if sprayed liberally on these surfaces. Petroleum residues must be removed from materials before bonding. A generous spray of Activator 310 can be used on surfaces like metals, glass and unfinished wood to decontaminate them.
Sharp shock to brittle materials may cause failure if Cyanopoxy is improperly applied.
To avoid clogs and buildup to tip of Integrator 75 bottle, avoid touching tip of bottle to surfaces. If buildup does occur spray tip with Activator 310 making sure to point hole in tip AWAY from spray pattern. Buildup should harden within minutes and be easily lifted off. Always remove these buildups before returning cap to bottle for storage.
Temperature thresholds for the Cyanopoxy System: - 65 to +230 farenheit.
